How to Use Aromatherapy
Getting started with aromatherapy is simple and can be tailored to your lifestyle and preferences. Here are a few of our favorite methods:
Diffusion
This is one of the easiest ways to enjoy aromatherapy. There are many types of diffusers available, in our case (at the moment) we provide the means for diffusion through Reed Diffusers. Other types include electronic methods such as ultrasonic, evaporative, nebulizing, humidifying, or heat.
Diffusion is a great choice for creating a relaxing environment in your bedroom or a focused atmosphere in your home office.
Topical Application
For a more personal experience, you can apply essential oils directly to your skin. It’s crucial to dilute them with a carrier oil such as jojoba, almond, or coconut oil which prevents skin irritation. A common dilution ratio is 1-2 drops of essential oil per teaspoon of carrier oil.
Convenient rollerballs that are pre-diluted and ready to use are also a great option.
Inhalation
Candles! A tried and true method for relieving stress both physically and psychologically. It has remained a staple for many wellness-minded individuals for many decades!
For a quick and potent dose of aromatherapy, you can practice direct inhalation.
Place a drop or two of essential oil on a tissue or cotton ball and breathe in the aroma deeply.
You can also add a few drops to a bowl of hot water, place a towel over your head, and inhale the steam for a mini-spa moment.
When you do not have any candles around, these methods can work very effectively.
Bathing
Elevate your regular bath routine into a luxurious, spa-like ritual.
Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil, diluted in a carrier oil or bath salts, to warm bathwater. This method allows for both inhalation of the aromatic steam and absorption through the skin.
